Sometimes, it begins with a picture. Sometimes it begins with a piece of clothing. This time, it began with both. My ex sent me a picture of our granddaughter wearing a particular red dress, which she had originally bought for our daughter, over 35 years ago. Accompanying the picture was the question, “Do you have a picture of Lara (our daughter) wearing this dress?”

Being the designated photo archivist of the family, I found a picture of Lara wearing the same dress. The picture was from 1986. Carol (my ex), has saved many things from when our kids were very young, but this brought a particular smile to my face. A classic red dress, worn by both mother and daughter, decades apart.
