Living in a small town with friendly and understanding neighbors makes life interesting! Being owned by a few cats adds to the variety of my days . My 5 year old cat, Miss Gertie, has a very distinctive & social personality. She likes to go out most days and visit my various neighbors, choosing to sleep in their porch chairs or patio benches. Luckily, I have very understanding neighbors who never seem to mind her stopping by to visit or take a nap. The other cats in my home have a tendency to get in her face as soon as she comes home! She has solved this issue in a very smart way! When she is ready to come in at home, she goes to the next door neighbors and asks to come in their back porch for a snack and a short visit. They don't mind her visits, feed her a snack or two , then call me to let me know she is there and ready to come home! Soon after their call, I head for their porch, sit and visit for a bit, then pick her up and carry her home...which is exactly what she wants. Once home, she has her food and then heads for her bed for a snooze. She knows she is the only cat allowed in their house and takes an almost daily advantage of this.
