Lee Rubenstein
I took up painting in 2014 and did this painting just a few months ago. It symbolizes my MAC story. (MAC is an acronym for a lung infection caused by bacteria.)
I’ve traveled a long and rocky road with MAC (represented by the path), which has left my lungs partially collapsed and badly scarred (represented by the tree).
I yearn for the therapeutics of fresh ocean air (represented by the breeze through the skirt - admittedly great liberty and artistic license have been taken through the use and the depiction of a woman) that is free of bacteria and virus and so I seek solace by the ocean...only to be confronted by COVID that now ominously infects the air (represented by the dark clouds on the horizon).
Notwithstanding the pervasive blue, the hope and the promise of a new vaccine springs eternal (represented by optimistic yellow grass-shoots that rise up from the depths).
