My father, a multi-talented man, taught me to knit when I was about 8 years old.  I started knitting clothes for my dolls and gradually worked up to larger projects.

During our senior year in high school, my best friend, Marilyn, and I decided we would knit matching cardigan sweaters.  We chose a chunky yarn, so the sweaters could be knit in a short time.  The thick yarn required size 15 knitting needles.  I chose a pair of blue needles and Marilyn chose a pair of silver needles.  In a flash of inspiration, we decided to swap one of the needles so we each had one blue needle and one silver needle.

Over the years I have continued to knit and have acquired many pairs of needles of all sizes.  Especially since Covid, my knitting projects have multiplied.  It’s a delight to make a trip to the knit store and choose new skeins from all the beautiful yarns.  Every time I start a new project, I take out my collection of knitting needles and those blue and silver No. 15 knitting needles always make me smile!
